This week on the beat |

#BraunstoneTown and #ThorpeAstley Its been a busy week for the beat team so no apologies for the long read.
Youth issued a 2nd stage warning for offensive language toward a neighbour. A conversation with him and his mum left him in no doubt we are keeping an eye on his progress. We also discussed potential Child Criminal Exploitation concerns with the mother giving her advice on what to look out for and to get in touch with any questions she may have in the future. Victim updated of the outcome.
We have had a male attending beauticians and salons in recent months causing some concern with his actions. We have spoken to most of these businesses on the beat now and will get in touch with the rest in due course to ensure we haven’t missed any incidents. A crime report for Outraging Public Decency has been created, evidence and statements are being obtained and we are working with colleagues in the City to ensure that the court date in June has all the relevant reports to present to the Judge to put the relevant order in place on the individual to reign in the behaviour and ensure any appropriate prosecutions are progressed appropriately. Thank you to all those who have supplied information in relation to this issue which has enabled the beat team to identify the suspect.
Working with #EastMidlandHomes we have secured the full possession of an address where we served a closure notice in recent months on Burdet Close. #EMH will now set a date for the eviction and in the meantime the property will remain closed, it being a criminal offence to enter it for any unauthorised person, which includes the now ex resident. We also secured a result in court for a nearby address on Kingsway. The resident has signed an UNDERTAKING with the same conditions that were on the injunction. Further breaches for the criminal and antisocial behaviour will now result in the resident being in contempt of court.
We assisted the Courts with one of their warrants on Beech Drive and located a small cannabis grow within the property which has been secured by the Courts. This will have a lasting impact on policing in the area due to the reduced demand created by this location. The Courts required a lot of support for this action due to the occupants previous behaviour.
PCSO Duane has collated historic reports of ASB from a resident along with ongoing ones that have been being reported to EMH. We’ll be arranging a meeting soon to assist with a relocation request from the victim is looked into further.
We attended a Brain Health Information Event hosted by Age Concern at the Braunstone Civic Centre. We gave crime prevention and safeguarding items and advice and was approached by both the public and partner agencies throughout the day.
PCSO Duane attended a beat surgery at the Library Coffee Morning. These are held on Wednesday mornings every week. There is also one at St Crispins Church at the same time each week. Both are well attended and a great way for locale people to meet and make friends. A great way to combat loneliness.
PCSO Duane attended three Children’s Residential care homes on one shift and had some great discussions with some of the residents with one of them being the last time as he was moving on from the placement. Police input at these locations helps reduce incidents requiring wider police attendance.
Sent our Braunstone Life Article to the editor.
We’ve heard from the County Council about parking enforcement around our schools. On the 19th-21st May, 6 PCNs were issued around Millfield, 1 around Ravenhurst and 3 around Kingsway Primary. Parents, it really isn’t difficult to walk an extra hundred meters. Keep clear of restricted areas to keep children safe!
PCSO’s Duane and Ryan patrolled our green spaces and cut throughs on foot and cycle whilst completing our enquiries this week. We have liaised with the Braunstone Town Council groundsman in relation to a potential ASB issue and let us know if it is occurring.
PC Dave spent a lot of the week in plain cloths for a variety of issues across Blaby District with other beat officers. Including patrols of the Thorpe Astley green spaces looking to collar some of these motorbike riders. Whilst he didn’t manage to get one in Braunstone/Thorpe Astley but, you may have seen an earlier post where he assisted in catching one on another beat.
PCSO Ryan spotted a wanted female whilst patrolling and detained them with the attending response officer.
PCSO Ryan also assisted with a serious injury RTC on another beat being first on scene.
Sgt Randall and PCSO Ryan attended the Braunstone Parish Council Community Development Meeting and answered any questions they had with no significant issues reported.
